The world has gone mad.* Can you believe Obama got the Peace Prize while escalating the war in Afghanistan? 20,000 extra troops since he took office. Listening to DN! I heard that they almost gave the 1938 prize to Hitler. if the pre-emptive strike really works, think what they could have prevented.
In an effort to participate in this whimsical turn of events I have decided that it was really the Nobel Prize for Bees. The bees are very grateful to President Obama for some reason. Perhaps it's the hopeful buzz he's generated. I suppose I should be happy that humans are so optimistic, rather than disheartened by our love of empty rhetoric.
Speaking of optimism, i have been shortlisted in the Manchester Fiction Prize - results announced on the 23rd. Please direct your swarming positivity to England for a week or so. Ta.
Now speaking of actually doing something, Alice residents are responding to the recent outbreaks of racism in our town by holding a community meeting against racism:
Community gathering on the Alice Springs Town Council lawns to say “racism hurts, enough is enough” - together we are going to make a community response.
Thursday October 15
Alice Springs Town Council Lawns
9:15 for a 9:30 start.
There will be another meeting on the 29th or thereabouts, so this one will be short.
* i must be getting on in years
