as a novelist i should be able to do better than that, but those are the words that popped into my head when i walked into a bookshop today and saw the diamond anchor on the shelf. she was leaning on the new-aus-lit display rack all by herself like a dorky girl at a party. of course i am overjoyed, but i also feel this risktaking weirdness. i could have been shoplifting in there.
a mate texted this morning, which is why i knew it was there a week early. i haven't been going in to check or anything. but i am stoked now that the process is done.
except it's not, cause there's the talking about it. the sydney writers festival program came out today, so i guess that means i can tell you i'm in it. see you there.
now go and buy my book.

shoplifting -- from the little shop on teh corner?
I mean, to me attending the SWF.
i didn't mean i *would* shoplift, just that i had this odd narcotic rush of naughtiness...
Why would I buy your book when I can shoplift it? Love ya Jesse
it wasn't on the shelf yet in tassie, still in transit according to the paperwork - so will have to pick up my copy in melbs! so exciting! xx
jesse, why would you shoplift it when you know i am going to send you one? but when i make it into seattle barnes and noble, please go right ahead.
