the sun is finally shining on old sydney town and my compounded mardi gras weekend hangovers, and i'm a ten second walk from the beach, so i'm not gonna spend long on this here post. preparing to head off tomorrow, down to the old clean-beach haunts of the illawarra first, then home via melbourne (and the giant koala, for reasons i will explain later).
i'm fairly sure i am never going to do another big gay dance party, but the bands were good. faker and grafton primary and blush foundation. cyndi lauper was all right. i watched olivia newton john via youtube a few days later cause there was a lockout.
other music and art and such has been good. lots of cultural consumption and caffeine consumption and whatever else one does in the emerald city - get overtaken by mad p-plater tradies, mostly.
the car is hiccup-ish but well, thanks for asking. she is also magical. was parked at the end of l. st in newtown the other day when i found a note on the windscreen: it said "you're not gonna believe this but i used to own this car" - the fellow who wrote it had left caulfield in a garage in perth in 1999 and moved to you guessed it, l. st. recognised her by the plates (she's been resprayed since then). i now know the entire history of the car and a new creative holden enthusiast so we might make a project of some kind about it one of these days.
synchronicity/serendipity. but so many projects! i need a holiday, and a grant. i almost won $10,000 yesterday as i got shortlisted for something cool, but wasn't allowed to accept it because i'm no longer an unpublished author. life is a little like limbo at present, particularly financially. i mean purgatory, but actually it is a little like both kinds of limbo. musically much more pleasing than either, though.
