after ten years and who knows how many kilometres of hitch-hiking:

i advise the Territory government to erect 'danger: beware of jen' signs asap. (especially as i plan to steal the one that says 'take it easy')
this does not mean that i'm going to stop hitching. it also does not mean that i have my licence. it does mean i have a lot of offers for driving lessons though.
it's all about finishing my first draft this week in time to meet my mentor, philip mclaren, this morning, poolside at the alice resort. he did most of the talking. i smoked and told him to rip me to shreds, a request i may come to regret. in the middle of the meeting i was roped into reading at the writers showcase festival event tonight. rule #1 of my 'have a literary career' year is say yes to everything. this has got me in trouble before, but what's life without a little trouble?
i'm also reading in the mall on sunday morning outside the uniting church mystery op-shop (it was open for five minutes today, but i missed the window). in other exciting news i placed in a 'stories about truck driving' competition run by the automobile association. they have given me fifty bucks and a wack certificate made in microsoft word.
and so goes the saturn return.
*james joyce used behold/en to refer to the artist's gaze, the process by which seeing something makes you obligated to it. writing as witness. it's an interesting conjunction between behold and beholden. sorta puts me in mind of the heisenberg uncertainty principle, only morally weighted. anyway, sick wheels ay.

used to be. it moved next door to a primo mall spot which it happily wastes.
drop waist frocks and exercisewear... perhaps it's closed for the good of humanity.
