hello from a very rainy MFÖ song. the streets here are those oldschool middle-gutter deals which mean there is a minor flood through which everyone drives casting great arcs of spray onto the footpaths and hence me, as i am stubbornly wandering about between overpriced boutiques and frustratingly closed çorba joints. burada ne yapiyorum? i'm waiting for the feribot to leave for greece. i am actually waiting *on* the feribot for a few days - it might be a rich tourist town but why should this place, in its heart, be any different to the rest of turkey? its too easy man. i'll be in trouble if i expect this excessive hospitality in europe.
again comes the little sadness of detaching. as i prepare to leave, to strip off the acclimatisation, i meet people from konya who remind me why and how i came to turkey in the first place. it's a neat circle sometimes, the lesson. or not quite; a spiral outwards, so that each time we return we return with a little distance, we can make a little grief, a little chuckle at before. fibonacci's nostalgia.
i'm waxing mystical cause of how its raining. yes it is always that simple.
if you have a moment, read this story. theres a statue of tevfik on the harbour. he resembles pan. a little grief, a little chuckle. more of the latter please for everybody.
